Display Energy Certificate
In order to provide information to people regarding utilization of energy and making them aware about the usage of energy in the publically owned buildings the concept of Display energy certificate has been introduced. Such a certificate called DEC help in the provision of a ranking to the building. This rank ranges from A to G. Here A is the highest efficiency level while G is the lowest. The DEC is valid for one year. The ranking is also awarded on the basis of real time energy usage reading on the building’s meter during this one year time.
In addition to displaying this DEC at a visibly noticeable location on the building the affected party must also have an advisory report with genuine validity. All the necessary actions needed to improve the energy utilization and output in the building have been recommended within this report. This law is applicable to a building if it is in the occupation of a government organization and has lots of frequent common visitors and has an overall area of 500 square meter or more as occupied area.
This law is applicable from 9th January 2013. Every DEC building will be displaying this certificate at a conspicuous location with it ranking for the people to see with clarity.
